Eugenio Allegri has directed Matthias Martelli with skill and expertise in this exhilarating popular jester, which has been the model for the great narrative theatre of the last twenty years. The actor is alone on stage with the intention of involving the audience in the dramatic action, moving in a flash from comic laughter to poetry, to human and social tragedy. An original language and interpretation, in the tradition of a genre used by medieval jesters to overturn the triumphant ideology of the time.
Mistero Buffo is Dario Fo’s most famous text. With this masterpiece, he takes up an ancient genre, starting with the language built on sound, onomatopoeia, and changes of rhythm, coming to do justice to the world of the dispossessed who are asking for revenge.
