The verses are very ancient, thousands of years in the past and yet very close to us because they speak of things that concern us: ‘the sweetness of love and friendship, the anger of hatred, the pain of farewell, the joy of an erotic encounter, the pleasure of being together... they speak to us of the many aspects of life with an essentiality that gets to the heart of situations’.
