On the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the opening of the Frejus motorway tunnel linking Italy and France, the GEF (frejus exercise group), which groups SITAF for Italy and SFTRF for France, is proposing a unique experience: a cycling event that will cross the 12.9 km in the new tunnel under construction.
3 routes starting from Valfrejus:
Short route (52 km - 409 m D+): From Valfrejus to Bardonecchia and back through the tunnel. A refreshment point is provided in Bardonnecchia.
Medium route ( 72 km - 934 m D+) From Valfrejus to Bardonnechia via the Col de l’Echelle and back. There are two refreshment points in Bardonnecchia and on the Col de l’Échelle.
Large route (116 km - 1,678 m D+) this route offers the possibility of extending the pleasure between Bardonnechia and the Col du Montgenèvre via the Col de l’Échelle.
All participants will receive a souvenir plaque, a meal and a cycling jersey as a memento of their passage through the Fréjus tunnel.
Although there will be no rankings, participants will be able to see their times on different sections of the route and on the entire race.
If you live in Italy:
If you do one of the routes and live in Italy, the organiser will provide (free of charge and via e-mail) a round-trip pass (only valid from 10 to 11 July) through the Fréjus tunnel to allow you to reach the start in your own vehicle.
A cycling event limited to 1,000 participants.
