The Francigena cycle route: a journey through the history of the Susa Valley

Bussoleno

The Susa Valley has historically been a transit route connecting the Turin plain with France and Europe via the Monginevro and Moncenisio passes. Over the centuries, this valley has witnessed the passage of peoples, armies, kings, pilgrims, and merchants, making it a true crossroads of languages and cultures since Roman times.

With this easy and pleasant cycling tour from Bussoleno to Avigliana, we will discover the rich historical heritage of the lower valley, passing through medieval villages, castles, and remnants of industrial archaeology. It is a journey through time and history, immersed in a landscape that, despite being heavily shaped by human presence, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and glimpses of rural life.

Along the route, we will take a refreshment break at Bicigrill San Michele in Chiusa San Michele (food and drinks not included in the tour cost).

For the return, you can take a train back to Bussoleno or return by following the same route independently.
