Torino’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change will be celebrated in 2026 with the EU Cities Mission Conference. Torino will host the annual gathering that brings together the most ambitious European cities in tackling climate change, united by the common goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030. The event, scheduled from 27 to 29 May, will take place at OGR Torino and will welcome hundreds of representatives from the 112 “Mission Cities”, along with delegations from EU political and financial institutions, the business community, research organizations, and civil society—over 800 delegates in total.
The city is also at the forefront on a global level. With Mayor Stefano Lo Russo, Torino played a leading role at the C40 World Mayors Summit 2025, held on 3 November in Rio de Janeiro—the global summit of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, which brings together mayors of the world’s major cities to collaborate and take action against the climate crisis. More than 100 cities and 300 institutional representatives from around the world presented the best and most innovative practices adopted to protect their citizens from the threats posed by the climate emergency, while leveraging progress in ecological transition to improve urban quality of life, create more equitable societies, and boost local economies.
In the fields of sustainability, innovation, and accessibility, 2025 has been a year of prestigious achievements for Torino. Thanks to its vision and the cooperation between institutions, businesses, and the non-profit sector, the city earned the title of European Capital of Innovation and Smart Tourism. To conclude its year as capital, from 3 to 4 December OGR Torino will host the Cities Innovate Summit | European Capital of Innovation Awards Ceremony & Eurocities Economic Development Forum—an extensive programme of conferences, parallel thematic sessions, study visits, and networking opportunities, organized by the City of Torino with the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and Eurocities.
