The construction of Palazzo d’Oria dates back to the 16th century, with the Provanas of Leinì.
Acquired by the Savoys, it passed to the D’Oria family following an exchange with the Principality of Oneglia. It was later transformed into a “delightful” hunting lodge, with an apartment reserved for Duke Carlo Emanuele II.
Subsequent interventions changed the physiognomy of the Palace, modeled after the Savoy residences.
The museum itinerary for Palazzo D’Oria, also home to prestigious temporary exhibitions, now includes the Quadreria dei Marchesi (the marquises’ collection of paintings), with portraits of the D’Oria and Gontery families, a rich historical library with valuable volumes and parchments dating back to the 14th century, the apartment of Carlo Emanuele II, the Council Hall (formerly the Hall of Ceremonies) and the Fresco Room, recently restored.
