380th anniversary of the construction of the Baroque Church of San Rocco, built as a vow made by the people of Giaveno after the plague epidemic of 1630, known as ‘Manzoniana’ because it was mentioned by Alessandro Manzoni in ‘I promessi sposi’ (The Betrothed), which caused 1199 deaths in the town.
At 3.00 p.m. there will be a moment of prayer, then Andrea Carnino, Deputy National Administrative Secretary of the Associazione Internazionale Regina Elena Odv, will introduce those present to the figure of the Duke of Savoy Charles Emmanuel II.
This will be followed by speeches by journalist and cultural populariser Alessandra Maritano and cultural populariser Marco Marinello, who will illustrate the wonders of the Church of San Rocco.
This will be followed by a walk by historical groups to Marchini Park.
