Alla scoperta dei tram di Torino: da Sassi al centro

28 June 2025
Torino
Culture & Tradition

The itinerary begins with a visit to the Sassi Station Museum, which houses the historical collection of the GTT: inside the exhibition space, recently refurbished and expanded by ATTS, is the only horse-drawn tram still in existence, dating back to 1880, and you can admire pieces from the history of public transport in the city, photographs and many curiosities.

The Sassi-Superga rack railway also depart from the station, a veritable museum in motion: the carriages date back to 1884 and are still in service!

Towards the city centre, on the other hand, we travel on a vehicle that is as environmentally friendly as it is unusual: one of the vintage trams restored by the volunteers of the Associazione Torinese Tram Storici. This is the green tram No. 2598, built in Turin in 1933. Before arriving in the city centre, you will pass by the Officina Centrale GTT, a building of considerable architectural merit, the work of architect Pier Luigi Nervi and the place where trams are maintained.

Punctuality is recommended, booking required.
