Borgofranco d'Ivrea
Culture & Tradition, Music & Shows

The “Piemontèis Literary Festival – Forgotten Figures of Piedmont”, organised by the Cittadella della Cultura Popolare, the Coro Bajolese and the Centro Etnologico, returns to Bajo Dora (Borgofranco d'Ivrea-Turin).

The literary events begin on Friday 27 March. The Festival has become a literary hub for Piedmontese culture and its language. It has involved numerous authors, extending its scope to include theatre, without neglecting folk music.

The fifth edition is hosted at the Cittadella della Cultura Canavesana, in its historic premises on Via dei Ribelli in Bajo Dora.

The focus is on promoting the region through contemporary authors (both women and men) and the historical figures of ‘neglected’ Piedmontese writers and poets.

This year, the spotlight will be on two figures who have been at the heart of Piedmontese culture for decades, yet have been forgotten over time: the poet and writer Nino Costa, to mark the 140th anniversary of his birth, and Giuseppe Giacosa from Canavese, with the publication of a book to mark the 120th anniversary of the renowned librettist and playwright.

Among the side events on Sunday 29 March, the opening at 10.00 am of the exhibition “Small size - The Crystals of Mont Blanc” (Franco Lucianaz’s private collection) and at 10.30 am a guided tour, accompanied by the songs of the Coro Bajolese choir, at the Balmetti in Baio Dora.

During the Festival, the photographic exhibition “People of the Canavese” featuring images by Giovanni and Bruno Torra will be open.

There will also be an opportunity to visit the “Old Dairy” with its exhibition of old-fashioned tools.
