Lu santo jullare Francesco by Dario Fo is a reworking in grammelot of the life of St Francis of Assisi, seen as a non-hagiographic jester's tale of the “Jester of God”.
The show, rich in satire and spirituality, narrates the journey of Francis, who renounces all wealth to preach brotherhood. The work is brought to life on stage by Ugo Dighero to reflect on the emblematic choice of Pope Francis and his reformist revolution.
Dighero, who previously starred in Mistero Buffo, draws a parallel between the life of the saint and the obstacles faced by the Pope in a contemporary Church marked by scandal and corruption.
