Michelangelo Pistoletto, one of the most important contemporary Italian artists and a key figure of Arte Povera, will engage in a dialogue with critic and curator Fortunato D’Amico on the concept of preventive peace. The idea is simple and radical: to shift the focus from managing conflicts to building the conditions that prevent them from arising. Peace is not merely the absence of war, but a daily practice based on responsibility, cooperation, and care for social relationships.

In an increasingly artificial environment - made up of cities, economic systems, and cultural models designed by humans - the awareness of artists, designers, and creatives can become decisive in transforming a project of war into a project of peace, directing the constructs of society toward more just relationships.

During the event, Pistoletto’s second nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, proposed by the Sereno Regis Study Center, will also be announced.

The reflection continues with Il Contr’Uno Remix, a reading written and performed by Fabrizio Odetto. The performance reinterprets Étienne de La Boétie’s Discourse on Voluntary Servitude, a sixteenth-century text of striking relevance that explores tyranny and consent. The stage thus becomes an invitation to rediscover freedom and free will as essential values, reactivating critical thinking and the connection between the individual, the community, and nature.
