The Susa Valley is rich in traditions and legends, some well known, others less so, but equally evocative and capable of leading the curious to discover the valley through them.
The itinerary ‘On the Trails of the Dragon’ was created on the ancient belief of the presence of a Basilisk roaming between Bussoleno, Borgone and San Giorio, which had chosen as its home a suggestive long called ‘Stanza del Basilisco’ where curious rock formations create a sort of closed cave.
On the occasion of the Sagra del Marrone di Villar Focchiardo, we will discover the legend of the Basilisk and the past and present life of this area through a fun treasure hunt. Participants will walk along the Sentiero della Pietra e del Marrone (Stone and Chestnut Path) among the ancient roads of the ‘Pica Pera’ (stonemasons) surrounded by marvellous chestnut groves. An itinerary suitable for families and children from 6 years of age.
To enrich the day, we recommend a visit to the Sagra del Marrone (chestnut festival) in Villar Focchiardo, where you can taste the famous Susa Valley roasted chestnuts (a visit before the event is recommended).
