Individual cycling trip between Lake Maggiore, Ivrea, Lake Viverone, Turin
7 days / 6 nights
difficulty: medium/easy
total km: 253
This route takes us to an unfamiliar but not lesser Piedmont. We start at Lake Maggiore, the largest in Piedmont, and travel along the roads of the vineyards of the famous Gattinara wine.
Then here is another smaller lake, Lake Viverone.
We are in the area of castles, all climbing up hills. You pedal, however, at the foot of the mountains bypassing the Serra di Ivrea, an extraordinary moraine hill, then through Cuorgnè and Lanzo, medieval towns with much history behind them.
Finally Venaria Reale, where you can admire and visit the Royal Palace and its Gardens, comparable-in fact dating from the same period-to the Palace of Versailles.
Finally, you arrive in Turin along a beautiful bike path along the Dora River.
In Alpignano it may be possible to visit the museum of the Italian inventor of the light bulb, Cruto.
The tour is part of the Bicitalia 12 route, the Italian bicycle network that crosses all regions.
