The Quadrilatero Romano district is celebrating Torino’s birthday with re-enactments, parades, art and music.
• 10.00 am, Porte Palatine: the Legio Adamantina of Ivrea will re-enact the ritual of the foundation of the pomerium, the sacred space on which the city was to be built; this will be followed by a re-enactment of gladiatorial games, in keeping with Roman tradition, and finally a costumed procession along Via Garibaldi, the ancient decumanus maximus
• 5.00–6.00 pm: volunteers from the MioMAO Association will lead a guided walk through the neighbourhood’s streets, starting from the famous MAO museum, with a visit to the historic Palazzo Mazzonis
• from 6.00 pm: the Proloco di Torino kicks off the festivities with a parade in 19th-century costume entitled ‘Nobles and Notables of Turin, the Savoy Capital’, followed by a street party with music, concerts and DJ sets in the city’s nightlife venues
Throughout the evening, the venues of the Quadrilatero Romano – the vibrant heart of the neighbourhood – will welcome those wishing to celebrate in a convivial atmosphere with their usual passion and high standards, offering a wide and varied range of culinary delights: a new take on the famous motto ‘panem, vinum, cocktails et circenses’!
