For the 15th year, Torino is hosting the prestigious international Grand Prix FIE Trofeo Inalpi men's and women's foil event: once again, it is the first of three trials that include Lima (Peru) in March and Shanghai (China) in May.
The Torino platforms will see more than 400 athletes from 54 nations from the 5 Continents compete, representing the entire international foil elite.
The competitions include the individual trials: men's preliminary rounds on Friday 7, women's preliminary rounds on Saturday 8, men's and women's finals on Sunday 9.
At the competition - which awards double points compared to the classic World Cup trials - the exponents of the prestigious Italian foil team will take part: Alessio Foconi, no. 1 in the FIE world ranking, Giorgio Avola, Andrea Cassarà, Alice Volpi, no. 2 in the FIE world ranking, Arianna Errigo, Martina Batini, Camilla Mancini.
As far as foreigners are concerned, there is great expectation for the Americans Lee Kiefer, winner of two editions in Torino and gold medallist in Paris 2024, Alexander Massialas, individual silver medallist and team bronze medallist at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and Ka Long Cheung, winner of last year's edition.
