Moncrivello Castle was built towards the year 1000, its architecture is Romanesque with valuable Renaissance features and it is surrounded by an imposing wall with Ghibelline (swallow-tail) battlements, presenting an authentic medieval structure.
It was a dominating fortress, a place greatly coveted by powerful men which was transformed by Duchess Jolanda into a magnificent home during the 15th century, becoming the favourite castle of famous noblewomen.
