Museo Civico Etnografico del Pinerolese

The Museo Civico Etnografico del Pinerolese presents objects of daily use, tools, scale models of buildings and other testimonies of material and immaterial culture, relating to the traditional communities of the plains and valleys of the Pinerolo area. This heritage dates back to a period between the end of the 19th century and the 1950s.
The exhibition is divided into two sections: life (the domestic sphere) and work (man’s activities).
The first part of the exhibition is dedicated to the domestic sphere and presents scale reproductions of typical mountain and hillside dwellings and reconstructions of the rooms that made up a permanently inhabited mountain house.
The second part of the itinerary offers an overview of the traditional activities of the Pinerolo area: the farmer, the miller, the forger, the scales maker, the winemaker, the farrier and the metal worker, the silkworm brewer, the carpenter and the miner. Each section presents the tools of each craftsman, workbenches and machinery.
Finally, a room is dedicated to Agostino Pons, author of a precious collection of scale reproductions of existing buildings in the Pinerolo area, present in the Museum collection, including houses, factories and other workplaces.
