Ente Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso

Natural Park
Schools
It was the first national park in Italy, established in 1922 by the Savoys as a royal reserve to ensure the survival of the ibex. The territory of the Park includes kilometers of Royal Hunting Paths from which you can see ibex, chamois, marmots, ermines, squirrels and rare birds like the golden eagle and white partridge, all living in the wild. The Park embraces a vast area of high mountains, with altitudes ranging from 800 m on the valley floor to the 4061 m summit of Gran Paradiso. Forests of larch and fir trees, alpine meadows, rocks and glaciers, all create the ideal habitat for a rich variety of fauna and a wonderful setting for a visit to discover the world of high mountains.
