A new instalment of the Archivi d'Affetto project, which celebrates the theatrical scene of the 1990s in Turin, beginning with the dual production of Karel Čapek’s *The Makropulos Affair*, which Luca Ronconi staged simultaneously in two Turin theatres on 9 December 1993: at the Carignano, the play with sets and costumes by Carlo Diappi and Mariangela Melato in the lead role; at the Regio, the three-act opera features sets by Margherita Palli and Raina Kabaivanska as the lead performer.
Focusing on the figures of set designer Margherita Palli and engineer Silvano Cova, then technical director and head of stage design at the Teatro Regio, the exhibition explores how the magic of theatre takes shape in the relationship between art and technology: archival materials from the Centro Studi del Teatro Stabile Torino and the Archivio Storico del Teatro Regio Torino recount that experience, accompanied by the testimonies of the people who made it possible.
