The meeting will be an opportunity to retrace some of the key stages in the journey of The Nutcracker from 1815 to the present day, starting with E.T.A. Hoffmann's pen and moving on to Alexandre Dumas' rewriting, Tchaikovsky's scores, Marius Petipa's ballet and television.

Several precious examples preserved at the Tancredi di Barolo Foundation Library will also be on display, from the serialised publication in Corriere dei Piccoli to the first Italian edition in 1920.

Participants will then be able to “stage” the fairy tale by creating a peep show that pays homage to the ballet's extraordinary worldwide success.
