La Malesia di Sandokan: tra Fantasia e Realtà

18 January 2026
Torino
Culture & Tradition

Meeting with Claudio Benedetti, one of the screenwriters of the new RAI series dedicated to Sandokan.

It will be an all-round Salgari day, in which we will explore the different ways in which, between imaginary and real journeys, the exotic image of Malaysia has been constructed, starting from Emilio Salgari's great narrative cycle, through the various adaptations of his work, up to the most recent television adaptation.

• 4 p.m.: guided tour of the exhibition Sandokan. Il ritorno della tigre (Sandokan. The Return of the Tiger), with Felice Pozzo, one of the leading experts on Salgari

• 5 p.m.: round table discussion with Claudio F. Benedetti, screenwriter; Masturah Alatas, lecturer at the University of Macerata, writer of Malaysian origin and scholar of Salgari; Danilo Zagaria, biologist and science communicator; Lorenzo Cecchi, botanist at the University of Florence. The discussion will focus on the nature and geopolitics of Malaysia, comparing real scenarios, past and present, with those in Sandokan's stories.

Admission is with standard museum tickets.
