Turinese artist Luigi Serralunga gradually established himself in the flourishing Turinese art scene in which the likes of Lorenzo Delleani, Cesare Saccaggi, Leonardo Bistolfi and Giovanni Guarlotti worked.
Serralunga's pictorial style, initially linked to fin de siècle taste, over the years took on an expressive autonomy that found its best results in portraiture, nudes, hunting scenes and certain still lifes.
His poetics embodies the dictates of the late Symbolist tradition, contaminated by suggestions from the great season of 19th-century figurative painting.
