In Modigliani Sottopelle, Amedeo Modigliani’s Nu couché, part of the Permanent Collection of Pinacoteca Agnelli, is placed in dialogue with three other masterpieces by the artist to offer new interpretations and a more articulated understanding of his painting practice.
The exhibition project stems from advanced scientific investigations that have analysed the weft and warp of Modigliani’s canvases to reconstruct the origin of the fabric rolls used by the artist, thus introducing a new and valuable method for dating the works.
The exhibition, hosted in the Permanent Collection spaces of the museum as part of Beyond the Collection series, has been made possible thanks to prestigious loans from the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart.
