La Pista 500, Pinacoteca Agnelli’s artistic project set on FIAT’s iconic car testing track, will host new site-specific installations by Nathalie Du Pasquier and Peter Fischli.

The new projects, produced specifically for La Pista 500, will join existing installations by Rong Bao, Thomas Bayrle, Monica Bonvicini, VALIE EXPORT, Sylvie Fleury, Francesco Gennari, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Marco Giordano, Louise Lawler, Paul Pfeiffer, Finnegan Shannon, and SUPERFLEX.

Nathalie Du Pasquier, BANDIERE PER ZEFIRO

Nathalie Du Pasquier’s new installation spans the east façade of the Lingotto, playfully activating the building's architecture by blending form, colour and landscape. Based on new, unique drawings by the artist featuring geometric motifs, patterns, and bright colors, fifteen flags create a bridge between the artwork and the lived space. Du Pasquier’s project moves away from the concepts of nationalism, power, and domination that flags can represent in times of war and conflict, to instead embrace dialogue and openness through art.

Peter Fischli, ADDITION, SUBTRACTION, MULTIPLICATION

In the elliptical ramp, Peter Fischli connects this architectural space to the repeated mechanisms of human experience, from travel to perception, discovery, and wonder. The installation uses the image of city sightseeing automobile trains as its starting point. These so-called trackless trains, with carriages at times overturned, deconstructed and thus made futile, explore themes such as the fake and the authentic, while at the same time evoking travel as a symbol of physical movement and progress, but also of mental exploration, from stereotypical experiences to topsy-turvy imaginary journeys.
