Gregory Halpern's Omaha Sketchbook explores the American psyche through vivid scenes of daily life of boys and men in the inland United States.
Through portraits, group shots, still lifes and landscapes, he depicts the contradictions, anxieties and pleasures of everyday life, revealing complex emotions in seemingly ordinary moments. The viewer's agency is at the heart of Halpern's artistic practice: the audience is urged to actively engage with the work, to project their own interpretations and concerns onto it.
