CAMERA’s spaces host the exhibition Tina Modotti. l’Opera dedicated to one of the most important figures in 20th century photography.
The 300 works on display tell of Modotti’s versatility, artistic peculiarities, and curious, participatory and free nature. During her short but intense career she succeeded in capturing the intensity and contrasts of the worlds she travelled through, expressed through portraits of everyday life, but also and above all by recounting injustice, work, political activism, poverty, and the contradictions of progress and the transition to modernity.
The exhibition is important from a documentary point of view, as it brings together various previously unpublished materials, videos, magazines, documents, newspaper cuttings, portraits of the artist, as well as photographs dating back to the first and only exhibition that Tina Modotti held in 1929, which bear witness to and do justice to the photographer’s art.
