Piemonturismo organizes a visit to the Garida Talc mine and lunch at the Casa Alpina restaurant
In the Forno di Coazze area, at about 1070 m, there is the ancient Garida talc mine. The extraction of talc mineral in the Garida mine began at the end of the 19th century, when the first tunnels were dug, and ended in 1968.
Today the mining complex is a historical, cultural and geological heritage in which the evolution of extraction techniques is accompanied by a lithological context of extraordinary interest.
The underground and humid environment also represents the ideal habitat for some animal species.
The average temperature inside the mine is 10 °C, with high humidity and in some sections there is water.

Route not accessible for those with mobility difficulties. No animals allowed.
Morning: Visit to the Garida Mine (Forno di Coazze), Coazze (TO)
9:15 am: Meeting at the meeting point (green structure in Forno di Coazze). Arrival on your own. Coordinates: 45.036008, 7.242874
9:30 am: Departure and approach walk on foot to the entrance of the mine.
Critical points: approach route to the entrance of the mine of approx. 20 min on foot.
Recommended equipment: comfortable light hiking shoes and layered clothing suitable for inside the mine (temperatures of 10°C). The inside of the mine is extremely well ventilated and you can walk around easily even if in some places the ceiling requires you to bend down slightly. Claustrophobia to be assessed subjectively.
10:00 - 12:00: Guided tour of the Garida Mine. Dressing (helmet, light) and walking along the approx. 1 km stretch inside the mine.
Transfer to the Casa Alpina trattoria:
12:00 - 12:30: transfer on foot.
Lunch: Casa Alpina in Forno di Coazze
12:30 - 14:00: Lunch at the Casa Alpina.
Typical dishes of the area, with the possibility of requesting specific options for intolerances or particular diets (ask in advance if necessary).
