Family adventures in the green between parks and mountains

Discoveries and adventures, fun and sport: in summer, the mountains and hills around Torino offer exciting proposals in wonderful places, let's lace up our boots and set off!

Trails and mountains

Stimulating children's curiosity is always the most effective way to learn: venturing into the mountains of the province of Torino, discovering stories and legends hidden in forts and fortresses is fun and it's family!

Follow the Strade dei Forti in the Pinerolo area: paths dedicated to hikers and cyclists, where history intertwines with nature, capturing our attention among green hills, watchtowers and ancient walls, evocative atmospheres and marvellous views.

But here are the most child-friendly stops: the Lost World Dinosaur Park, which tells a story at least 160 million years long through some thirty reconstructed dinosaurs, the Fort of Fenestrelle (the great wall of Piedmont!), ScopriMiniera and ScopriAlpi, the fascinating journey through Europe's largest talc mine, and the Ochette path, a route along the Po river that winds for 14 km between the municipalities of Moretta, Cardè and Villafranca.

The extra idea: download Gaia Smart, the App suitable for tourists, families with children and anyone who wants to learn and explore while having fun, in the open air. Info lestradedeiforti.percorsipinerolo.it/families

Flower-filled villages and excellent gastronomy

Summer is, quite simply, the perfect time for the itinerary of the floral villages. Like Usseaux, Fenestrelle and Pomaretto: here the pleasure of discovering ancient legends, historical architecture and traditions is combined with the visual delight of colours and scents that welcome us.

Days that are a pampering for young and old alike: let us wander through the cobbled streets and hidden corners of the historic villages. And let's end the visit with a tasting of delicious local products. Moving instead towards the Alpi Graie, we discover the Val di Viù and Usseglio, where we pay homage to (taste!) the Toma di Lanzo, queen of these lands.

Refreshment break: lakes and waterfalls

The relaxing and beneficial power of blue: there are many paths leading to lakes and waterfalls where you can spend a day in the open air among crystal-clear water, spectacular waterfalls, panoramic views in unspoilt nature, perfect for children and for parents to relax!

In Bobbio Pellice, not far from Pinerolo, there are the so-called 'Tumpi', small pools along the water courses where you can swim or even dive.

Looking for something closer to Torino? Less than 30 km away, in the hamlet of Fucinassa di Almese (we are at the beginning of the Susa Valley), the Goja del Pis is worth a visit: in a fairytale setting, you suddenly come across a waterfall, which feeds a small lake surrounded by nature. It is not too deep and the water is cool and crystal clear: the ideal place to find some relief from the torrid heat of the city.

Lake Candia is the perfect destination for families, with walks, baby areas, an adventure park and meadows for Sunday picnics.

Summer at the Alpi Cozie Park

Admire the flight of vultures and griffon vultures, listen to the roaring of the deer, become acquainted with the secrets of the wolf, be enchanted by the flowering orchids or practise yoga in the midst of nature.

The summer calendar of the Alpi Cozie Park fascinates young and old alike: until 20 October, there are appointments one more beautiful than the other, decidedly family-friendly!

To take part in the outings you need: a backpack, shoes and suitable clothing, a desire to walk and a lot of curiosity!

PLUS: the meeting points of many of the scheduled hikes in July and August will be reached by a dedicated shuttle bus.
