The green soul of Torino Airport

25 November 2025

The principles of sustainability represent a strategic lever for the development of the airport system for Torino Airport. In recent years, the airport has made a significant commitment to environmental sustainability, which has materialised in the 'Torino Green Airport' project. The new smart grid system for hydrogen production, the first in Italy and among the first in the world at an airport, and the photovoltaic system on the roof of the terminal are just the two most tangible projects of all that Torino Airport has achieved so far and that will help the airport to reach the Net Zero target by 2040.

In 2024, it also obtained Level 3+ "Neutrality" certification from the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme, which attests to its ability to constantly involve third parties, and has participated in European projects on decarbonisation, making a factual contribution to the experiments underway on a European scale. The decarbonisation of the aviation industry is becoming an achievable goal, thanks in part to the synergistic collaboration of all airport users, in order to spread a culture of sustainability.

Finally, Torino Airport has a 100% green aircraft turnaround. Thanks to a fleet of electrically powered vehicles and airport procedures defined from a sustainable perspective, the airport reduces the environmental impact of aircraft ground handling operations.
