Music & Shows

Festival dedicated to the playwright, poet and librettist Giuseppe Giacosa.

This year, there will be a special focus on Giacomo Puccini's opera Tosca, marking the 125th anniversary of its first performance.

On Friday 5th, at the Piero Venesia multipurpose hall, the musical show Bellissime will be performed, a tribute to women through music and words taken from 20th-century works: a journey through anecdotes, stories and many famous songs, an investigation that is at times entertaining and light-hearted, at times serious and rigorous, to understand how the role of women in modern society has changed.

On Saturday 6th, the Festival moves to a new venue, the Auditorium of the Bioindustry Park Silvano Fumero, where the show Al caro Pin che è nostro - Sentire l'arte prima di capirla (To our dear Pin - Feeling art before understanding it) will be staged. Written and created especially for the Giacosa Festival, it allows the audience to relive the atmosphere of the Casa Giacosa salon, frequented by great artistic personalities. The show aims to reveal the lesser-known side of Giacosa, namely his greatness as a poet and author, not just as a brilliant librettist.

On Sunday 7th, there will be a unique annual opportunity to immerse oneself in the atmosphere of Casa Giacosa, the “Grande Arca”, through a special visit to the poet's residence and the national premiere of Tosca - Il canto e il sangue - Morire d'amore, uccidere per amore (Tosca - Song and Blood - Dying for Love, Killing for Love), which will take place in the villa's splendid park. A drama in words and music inspired by Tosca, the opera by Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica, and the drama by Victorien Sardou, to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the opera's first performance.

On stage are a soprano, a tenor, a pianist and an actor. Tosca will be recounted according to Giuseppe Giacosa's literary choices, with the same structure as the libretto, and above all giving space to the inner voices of the protagonist, whom we will discover to be not only a literary character but a living creature, born from Giacosa's heart.
