The exhibition is one of the side events of the Italian Geographical Congress, which will hold its 34th edition in Turin between 3 and 5 September 2025 and will be dedicated to the theme: Urban era and disorder in the world. Geographies for interpreting the present.
The exhibition takes its cue from the leitmotif of the Congress – the city – not so much to read its history through cartography, but as a pretext to focus on cartography itself, in the variety and changeability of its figurative models, clients and recipients, as a tool for controlling, exploring and using urban spaces.
The five thematic sections are dedicated to the modes of cartographic representation of the city and the different types of uses of maps (The governed, divided, equipped city; The defended and pacified city; The explored, used and travelled city; The city as a hub of relations with the territory).
