Slipstream is the first retrospective exhibition by artist Alessandro Vasapolli.
Curated by Carola Allemandi and promoted by the Natale Capellaro Foundation in Ivrea, the exhibition explores the limits of perception and the boundaries of knowledge through the experimental use of photography and specially designed imaging devices.
The artist, born in Turin in 1988, is attracted by the perceptual ambiguity of reality and the degree of uncertainty that is usually ignored in order to have a coherent view of the world, thus challenging the eye and the mind to move in different coordinates.
Reality is seen as an elusive form, in perpetual motion within time. Vasapolli's research path can be traced by following the recurring themes in his early works, such as Early Works and Dévoilées.
The exhibition is also an opportunity to admire Dance Notes, the cycle that the artist develops in six chapters, using dance as a device to take his previous research to its extreme consequences. The exhibition presents a synthesis of the Dance Notes cycle, with particular attention to the chapters Dynamics, Movement, Impetus and Time.
Slipstream is organised with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the City of Ivrea and Ivrea Città industriale del XX secolo, under the patronage of the Piedmont Region, the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Turin Chamber of Commerce.
