Sunday dedicated to Luigi Comencini's film La donna della domenica (The Sunday Woman), based on the novel by Fruttero&Lucentini: a special event organised by the Le Rosine artistic and cultural centre together with Piemonte Movie, in collaboration with the Torino Tram History Association (ATTS).
The initiative brings together cinema, music, literature and tourism. After a brief introduction, the iconic film starring Marcello Mastroianni, Jacqueline Bisset and Jean-Luis Trintignant, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary since its release, will be screened.
There will be a break for lunch, after which everyone will meet again at the Le Rosine Centre for a short performance that will transport the audience into the atmosphere of the film. After that, everyone on board! The historic Cinecittà tram, which for years connected the centre of Rome with the film studios, will depart from Piazza Carlina. Travellers will be welcomed by the notes of a saxophone and readings from the book by Fruttero and Lucentini, which will accompany spectators through the streets of Turin, the setting for the novel and film.
The event will also be an opportunity to visit the historic buildings of the Istituto delle Rosine complex - a hidden gem of the subalpine capital, founded in the mid-1700s by Rosa Govone, a pioneer of women's emancipation - and to discover the many locations used in films shot under the Mole through the words of Giorgio Scianca.
