Created by the Metropolitan City to promote local products that meet criteria of craftsmanship, tradition, traceability and use of local raw materials, the basket of typical products contains a treasure trove of food and wine to be enjoyed and promoted, including for tourism purposes.
Among the various products included, the cured meats and meats that are part of the basket are:
-
Mustardela: a Slow Food presidium, this is one of the most typical products of the rich and creative gastronomic tradition of Val Pellice. A tasty black pudding to be enjoyed fresh, sliced and accompanied by bread, or pan-fried with onions, or served hot with mashed potatoes or polenta
-
Salame della Turgia: made with meat from cows that are no longer productive, with the addition of pork lard, salt, pepper, nutmeg and other spices, garlic and, sometimes, local red wine
-
Salame di Giora di Carmagnola: made from minced meat from various cuts of Piedmontese beef, to which diced pork lard, salt, pepper, a mixture of spices and, if desired, Nebbiolo or Barbera wine are added
- Salame di patate del Canavese: produced exclusively in the Canavese area, this salami is made from pork and boiled potatoes flavoured with salt, pepper, garlic, nutmeg, cinnamon, ground cloves and other spices. Stuffed into natural casings, it is left to rest for a short time. It is excellent raw on bread croutons, in omelettes or baked, after no more than a week of ageing
