The 11th edition of the Tournament of Medieval Cities, an event dedicated to the figure of Marquise Margherita of Savoy and her settlement in Cirié in 1305—an episode considered pivotal to the administrative, economic, and social development of the ancient castellanies of Cirié, Caselle, and Lanzo. After being widowed by the Marquis of Monferrato, Giovanni I, Margherita chose Cirié as her residence and governed the territory by promoting new exemptions, customs reforms, and measures in favor of social justice.
One of the event’s distinctive features is its focus on historical reenactment. Ten stations dedicated to 14th-century life will be set up in the town center, forming a true Medieval Village: visitors will be able to observe ancient crafts and activities of the era up close, from paper production to medieval medicine, from tailoring to carpentry, including embroidery and the games court.

The 2026 edition will involve approximately 500 participants from the city’s six districts—Devesi, Loreto, Rossetti, San Martino, San Rocco, and San Sudario—and will feature the participation of 19 guest historical delegations from Piedmont and the Aosta Valley: Lanzo Torinese, Caselle Torinese, Fénis, Susa, Volvera, Condove, Castellamonte, San Benigno Canavese, Valperga, Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Villanova, Chivasso, Candiolo, Rivoli, Châtillon, Oglianico, Bussoleno, Leinì, and Grugliasco.

•    Saturday, the 13th, at 8:45 p.m.: Starting from Villa Remmert Park, the Grand Parade—a procession in historical costume—will wind through the city, featuring artistic performances, flag-waving displays, and sword fights
•    Sunday, the 14th, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM on Via Vittorio Emanuele II: The Medieval Village will feature reenactments of daily life in the 14th century, including a musicians’ camp, a games court, peasant life with wheat threshing, and a medieval tavern; 3:00 PM from Palazzo D’Oria: Historical Parade of the Neighborhoods of Cirié and the Guest Cities; 4:30 PM on Corso Martiri della Libertà: Equestrian Joust, the event’s centerpiece, featuring knights competing in a contest inspired by medieval tournaments; following the event, performances by musicians and flag-wavers.
