The historic centre of San Giorgio Canavese is hosting the tenth edition of the Mercato della Terra e della Biodiversità, an event dedicated to food, wine and environmental issues, featuring a packed programme of activities and performances, tastings and talks, as well as games and workshops for children.
The initiative was launched with the aim of rediscovering the market of yesteryear, a place for meeting and exchanging knowledge, traditions and skills in a festive and convivial atmosphere.
The theme chosen for this edition is ‘Roots’, understood as a fundamental element in every aspect of life: in crops, customs, cultures, work, food and the bond between people and the land.
Running until Thursday 12th is also the Children’s Biodiversity Festival, one of the most significant projects within the cultural programme promoted by the Festival of Reciprocity (San Giorgio Canavese, Agliè and Castellamonte): a workshop of ideas and visions dedicated to young people, to imagine a future in which biodiversity is a driving force for positive change.
Guests include: Renzo Rubino, singer-songwriter and agricultural entrepreneur, in conversation with Artistic Director Peppone Calabrese; La Bolena Gang, a local band performing an acoustic set; and Michele Monopoli, with a talk and tasting of his olive oil.
And on Sunday 10th, the traditional May Fair will also take place, featuring an exhibition of agricultural machinery and a livestock show.
