The international ensemble Baroque & more brings the splendour of European Baroque to Italy. The ensemble brings together professional musicians who play period instruments and are dedicated to making this repertoire accessible to a wide audience.
Baroque & more, under the artistic direction of Luc Ponet, will be visiting Italy for the second time in early May, with two special concerts.
On Saturday 2 May, the ensemble will perform at the prestigious Teatro Giacosa in Ivrea, followed by a concert on Sunday 3 May at the historic Church of San Silvestro Papa in Chiaverano.
Under the title “Nations & Splendour: The European Baroque Orchestra”, Baroque & more presents a rich and varied programme that takes the listener on a musical journey through Baroque Europe. Instrumental suites and orchestral works by composers such as Georg Philipp Telemann and Jean-Baptiste Lully bring to life the colours and styles of the various European traditions.
The programme gradually evolves towards a more expressive and vocal dimension, featuring works by Claudio Monteverdi, Joseph Hector Fiocco and Alessandro Scarlatti, amongst others. The combination of mezzo-soprano and ensemble creates an intense musical climax, in which emotion and virtuosity take centre stage. A special role is also reserved for the trumpet.
