The Owl Trail starts in the centre of Venaus and winds its way through the surrounding countryside, following the tracks of various types of nocturnal birds of prey that make their home in this area.
Accompanied by a nature guide, walkers will be able to discover the natural, geological and historical features of the area they pass through. They will also be accompanied by actor Alberto Barbi, who will perform a narrated story in stages along the route, recounting the tale of Luigi Malabrocca, the ‘black jersey’ wearer of the Giro d’Italia during the great rivalry between Coppi and Bartali: a small champion who, realising he could not compete with the greats of his time, decided to be the last, and in his own way became a hero.
An easy route suitable for everyone, but a basic level of experience with walking in the mountains is required.
Meeting at 3.45 pm; 4 hours walking estimated; distance approximately 7 km round trip; elevation gain 250 m.
