Presentation of work-in-progress projects selected for the 2025 edition of Surreale - contemporary circus residencies, an international call for contemporary circus artists under 35, conceived and promoted by FLIC Scuola di Circo.

  • Giaccua - Filippo Seziani. A figure moves through an unstable reality, suspended between the familiar and the unfamiliar. Living on the margins becomes both refuge and isolation. Fragments of childhood and ambiguous presences fracture what should be reassuring, while the body absorbs a constant tension. An armour takes shape, both protecting and separating. Identity breaks apart and recomposes, leaving an open question: does a safe place truly exist?
  • Corps à Cordes - Katell Boudrandi-Saj (France). A dance emerges as the memory of the body. Worn ropes evoke shipwreck and remembrance, while the wind passes through them like a breath. The body becomes a balanced wreck, suspended between past and present, searching for support
  • Utopiae - Angel Villa (Mexico). Mother Nature welcomes humankind, but curiosity leads it to destroy a floating island, turning it into a plastic graveyard. A poetic reflection on human impact and the fragility of natural balance
  • Gina & Françoise - Patrick McMaster, Selma Hellmann (United Kingdom and Germany). In a near-future on the brink of collapse, two women resist simply by living. Between absurdity and poetry, this first study explores life as an act of rebellion
