The restaurant is located in the central district of Crocetta a few steps from Porta Nuova train station. Located on the ground floor of a 1958 building, it has no visible signs inside and retains the charm of the sixties, completely maintained with the same furnishings when he was born.

Al Gatto Nero was founded in 1927 a few steps from Piazza Carlina by a Tuscan family, the Vannellis, who decided to move to Torino to seek their fortune in the restaurant business. Thanks to the great success of the venture, in 1958 the restaurant moved from the centre to premises in Corso Turati.

Here, the interior architecture is entrusted to the Torino architect Pietro Derossi, who surrounds the rooms with exposed brickwork, maintaining the original counter and fireplace from the first premises. For the occasion, even the logo is renewed thanks to the imagination of Armando Testa, also author of the numerous drawings on the walls.
