Meeting industry data: Torino shows strong growth in 2024

The meeting industry in Torino and its metropolitan area is in excellent health, continuing its growth and fully recovering from the post-Covid period. This is confirmed by the Focus on Torino commissioned by Turismo Torino e Provincia Convention Bureau and conducted as part of the national OICE survey promoted by Federcongressi&eventi and developed by the Alta Scuola di Economia e Relazioni Internazionali dell'Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – ASERI.

 

The data analysis, presented today, July 24, at the Circolo dei Lettori, confirms the strong growth of the conference and business events sector, revealing a total of 12,313 events held in 2024 (+12.3% compared to 2023), with 1,081,236 participants (+9.8%) and 1,503,729 overnight stays (+6.9%), accounting for 16.3% of all stays in hotel accommodations.

 

Companies continue to be the main promoters of events (48.6%), followed by associations (27.6%) and institutions (13.9%). 63.4% of the events were held in conference hotels, 32% in arenas, unconventional venues, theatres, and museums, 2.6% in congress and exhibition centres, and 2% in historical residences.

 

In terms of event size, arenas, institutional venues, and unconventional spaces hosted the highest number of participants (51.4%), followed by hotels (34.4%), congress centres (12.3%), and lastly, historical residences (1.9%).

 

Local events are 47.9%, national events 34.5%, and international events 17.6%, with the latter growing by 7.5 percentage points compared to 2023.

 

The regional data are also positive. According to the survey commissioned by Visit Piemonte, the meeting industry in the region aligns with the national trend, recording 24,850 conferences and business events (+9.1%), 1,842,891 participants (+5.1%), a total of 2,575,854 overnight stays (+6.0%), and 33,648 event days (+10.2%).
