The year opens with the arrival of the Olympic torch for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Games. Exactly twenty years after the Torino 2006 Winter Olympic Games, the excitement of the five rings completions returns with a great celebration. Important sporting events follow throughout the year, such as the Fencing Grand Prix from 5 to 7 February: one of the most eagerly and high-level stages in the international calendar for both men’s and women’s fioretto. Over 450 athletes from more than 55 countries will compete at the Inalpi Arena.
After last year’s great public success, with over 42,000 spectators, the Frecciarossa Final Eight returns from 18 to 22 February at the Inalpi Arena: top-level basketball showcasing the 8 best teams of the 2025/26 Unipol Serie A.
In September, the Men’s European Volleyball Championship arrives. From 20 to 23 September, the Palavela will host four round-of-16 and two quarter-final matches, decisive for qualifying for the semi-finals and medal matches. And in November Torino will also once again host the Nitto ATP Finals, from 15 to 22.
As in every even-numbered year, the highlight of the exhibition calendar is Terra Madre – Salone del Gusto, the international event celebrating high-quality food, biodiversity and sustainability, bringing together producers, chefs, experts and food enthusiasts from around the world. Also on the gastronomic theme, from 13 to 17 February the city hosts Cioccolatò, the festival entirely dedicated to the food of the gods. Many more trade fairs follow at Lingotto Fiere, including the International Book Fair from 14 to 18 May.
In the congress sector, two major dentistry and orthodontics events stand out: the IAO – Italian Academy of Osseointegration Open Meeting from 5 to 7 March with 450 participants at the Lingotto Conference Centre, and the 56th SIDO International Congress at Lingotto Fiere from 8 to 10 October with 2,200 delegates. There are numerous scientific events, including the 45th International Symposium on Archaeometry from 18 to 22 May at the Unione Industriali Conference Centre with over 400 researchers from around the world (organized by the University of Torino, AIAr – Italian Association of Archaeometry, the Conservation and Restoration Centre “La Venaria Reale” and Museo Egizio). At the Lingotto Conference Centre, IFW – Insects to Feed the World will take place from 9 to 12 June, bringing together around 500 academics and experts in insect farming for both human and animal nutrition, and the 20th International Society for Behavioral Ecology (ISBE) Congress from 20 to 24 July with 1,200 participants.
The excellence of the Politecnico di Torino always attracts important congresses. Among them: the 75th Annual General Assembly of CIRP – The International Academy for Production Engineering from 23 to 29 August with 700 participants, and the IWSS–IASS Symposium, which will gather 1,000 of the world’s leading engineers, researchers, architects and experts in shell structures, from 14 to 19 September.
