The Sonate da camera, op. 3 by Tomaso Antonio Vitali were published and dedicated to Anne Marie de Bourbon-Orléans, wife of Victor Amadeus II, in 1695.
They are successions of dances - mostly of French inspiration - with which the Emilian composer probably hoped to get into the good graces of the noblewoman.
With this concert by the Instrumental Ensemble of the Accademia del Santo Spirito, they are performed for the first time in modern times.
