Áκρη (ákri) is a Greek word that translates as boundary or limit. It forms the first part of the compound word ακροβασία (acrobatics), which can be translated as ‘walking on the edge’.
Ákri is a circus performance of an acrobat and a ladder that explores the concept of ‘boundary’. The ladder, which is both a circus prop and a stage set, represents a transition zone between two spaces and at the same time symbolises a craft and a way of life.
How do we live the time suspended between two moments? How do we move in those non-places that, like a staircase, are not meant to be inhabited? How do we walk on the edge?
The uniqueness of the project lies in the fusion of disciplines: theatre, object manipulation, acrobatic movement and clowning, which together create a profound and original narrative.
