The cream of Italian skydiving will gather to compete in the Italian championships for this sport, in the acrobatic disciplines.
The event will be launched on Thursday 6 August at 6.00 pm at the Sky Dream Center skydiving school.
Around forty athletes will compete for victory in the relative flight discipline (a four-person team jump from 4,000 metres) involving a series of grips and manoeuvres in freefall, and in Vertical Formation Skydiving (VFS: a four-person team jump from 4,000 metres involving a series of manoeuvres and grips in vertical freefall).
The latter discipline will see the Army’s (Vertical Storm), comprising athletes from the Sports Activities Unit (RAS) of the Folgore Parachute Brigade. They are unbeaten in Italy and the only team in the world to have won medals in all outdoor and indoor (wind tunnel) events at various international competitions (World Championships, European Championships and World Cup), as well as having set several world records for large formations in freefall (see separate factsheet).
The Italian Parachuting Championships will be organised by the Aero Club Torino.
