Europe’s most important horse racing event is coming to Piedmont for the first time.
The Vinovo Racecourse will open its gates at 11.30 am with the opening, on the upper floor of the venue, of the temporary exhibition entitled *Il Morso. From its origins to the present day*, part of the Giannelli Collection.
Also during the morning, ASI will be exhibiting historic cars dating from the early 20th century to the pre-war period.
The races will begin at 3.00 pm with three lighter-paced opening races, followed by the four main races: the Italian Trotting Derby, the Oaks, the UET Grand Prix for four-year-olds and the final of the UET Elite Circuit.
During the afternoon, between races, there will be numerous spectacular supporting events, such as the arrival of parachutists performing a demonstration jump organised by the Sky Dream Center skydiving school in Cumiana, and horse parades featuring personnel from the Army Officers’ School and the Carabinieri Company of Monza.
On display in the racecourse’s central hall will be a Derby Car, a British-made carriage linked to horse racing culture and introduced by the Earl of Derby, of which there are very few examples left in the world.
The day’s special musical guest will be Mario Fargetta, aka Get Far, one of Italy’s most famous DJs and record producers, who has become an icon of dance music thanks to his long-standing association with Radio Deejay and the cult programmes ‘Deejay Time’ and ‘Deejay Parade’.
There will also be children’s entertainment, including ponies for the little ones’ first ride.
The day will feature a wide range of food and drink, and will also include a charity event.
