In 1972, GAM celebrated Fausto Melotti (Rovereto, 1901 - Milano, 1986) with a large retrospective that consecrated him among the masters of Italian art.
More than fifty years later, as part of the SECOND RESONANCE, GAM dedicates a new major exhibition to the artist. An exhibition tracing Melotti's entire production from his abstract beginnings in the 1930s to his artistic maturity.
The title of the exhibition, ‘Let me enjoy myself!’, is inspired by an ironic statement by the artist and underlines the playful and experimental approach that characterised his research. The exhibition presents more than one hundred and fifty works from public and private collections and is structured around the large nucleus of works conserved by GAM, including the large-scale Modulazione ascendente (1977), located in the museum garden.
