Born in 2005 as the Festival of Popular Orality, the Festival of Popular Cultures celebrates twenty years of theater, music, dance, poetry and workshops. A caravan that has crossed minority languages, traditions and innovations, transforming oral heritage into a living and shared experience.
From historic squares to community gatehouses, the Festival has been able to “betray” tradition to keep it current, welcoming new cultures, rituals and forms of expression, from griko to urban freestyle.
Today the celebration continues in the social outskirts of Torino, in the places of daily encounter, where culture is not exhibited, but lived.
Popular culture is not preserved: it is built, together.
