The Festival delle Culture Popolari returns to Torino for its 21st edition: the Portineria di Comunità in Borgo San Paolo will become a place where popular culture is not simply observed from a distance, but experienced together.
The programme brings together music, talks and community events: performers will include voices such as the Coro Bajolese and the Suma Fòlkestra folk orchestra. Sunday’s finale will feature Ambrogio Sparagna, Cristiano Califano and Peppe Servillo in a journey through the songs of the Apennines and Neapolitan tradition.
Some evenings will be devoted to listening, while others will invite everyone to dance, with traditional group dances from Southern Italia.
During the talks, sociologists such as Chiara Saraceno and Ota De Leonardis will discuss cities, climate and cultural heritage. Alongside these events, there will also be creative workshops, sports activities and local crafts.
On Sunday, October 4, the festival will conclude by welcoming the launch of the new season of Indovina chi viene a cena? (Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?): an opportunity to get to know one another over a meal and discover cuisines and stories from China, Egypt, Senegal, Nigeria and Peru.
