Torino
Culture & Tradition

The UNESCO Creative Cities designation recognises cities that choose to place culture and the creative industries at the heart of their urban development strategies, promoting fields such as design, crafts, gastronomy, music, literature, cinema and media arts.

Joining the network means becoming part of an international community of cities that share experiences, policies and projects, promoting creativity as a tool for collaboration, innovation and sustainable transformation.

Since 2014, Torino has been a UNESCO Creative City of Design, a designation that highlights the role of design as a strategic element for the city’s development and as a means of fostering relationships between institutions, businesses, creative communities and the local area.

The forum brings together some of the Italian cities belonging to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network to share strategies, projects and initiatives developed since their designation. Through panel discussions and storytelling sessions, the event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the contribution of the cultural and creative industries to processes of urban and regional transformation, comparing experiences related to design, craftsmanship, gastronomy and other areas of cultural production.

The event will be introduced by Stefano Daelli of FROM, a city-making agency specialising in urban transformation.
